Poor Service

Very disappointing experience on the 2nd time around. After chasing me to get me Fire Risk Assessment booked in because the previous one was about to expire, ( or more than one occasion unnecessarily). They then tried to charge me for things that are not needed on a risk assessment and i had to be firm with them as i work in property so knew they were just touting for business. I have today received the certificate nearly 3 months after the report was carried out. This was very disappointing especially as i had to continually chase the report . I would not recommend i had a client with a block of 16 flats i could of referred but obviously didn't.

Where’s the refund?

We booked an appointment and paid on 20th Jan. The engineer didn’t turn up and nobody notified us about the issue. The staff agreed to refund us but after 2 months we still haven’t received the refund. Never received any response from them 1 month ago.

Finding a Competent Fire Safety Assessor in London

Ensuring fire safety in your London property is a legal obligation under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, placing the responsibility on the ‘responsible person’ to conduct a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. While you can carry out the assessment yourself for very low-risk premises, for most businesses and landlords in London, appointing a competent fire safety assessor is crucial for compliance and, most importantly, for the safety of occupants. This blog post will guide you on how to find a qualified fire safety assessor in London.

The cornerstone of choosing a fire safety assessor in London is their competency. A competent assessor possesses the necessary training, experience, knowledge, and understanding of fire safety principles, relevant legislation, and best practices. They should be able to identify fire hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate control measures tailored to your specific London property. Don’t hesitate to ask potential assessors about their qualifications, training, and the specific experience they have with properties similar to yours in London. Understanding their background and expertise will help you gauge their ability to conduct a thorough and reliable assessment.

Accreditation and membership in professional bodies are strong indicators of a fire safety assessor’s competence and commitment to maintaining high standards. In London, look for assessors who are accredited under schemes like BAFE SP205, a UKAS-accredited scheme for fire risk assessment companies. Membership in recognized professional organizations such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) also demonstrates a commitment to professional development and adherence to industry best practices. These affiliations often require assessors to meet certain competency criteria and engage in continuous professional development, ensuring their knowledge remains up-to-date with the latest regulations and guidelines relevant to fire safety in London.

Finding a fire safety assessor in London can be done through various avenues. Online searches using terms like ‘fire safety assessor London’ or ‘fire risk assessment near me’ will provide a list of local providers. Reviewing online directories of accredited fire safety companies and checking the websites of professional organizations like the IFE and IFSM can also be helpful. Recommendations from other landlords, business owners, or property management companies in London who have previously used fire safety assessment services can be invaluable. Always take the time to read reviews and testimonials to understand the experiences of other clients.

When you have a few potential fire safety assessors in London, it is essential to verify their credentials and ensure they have adequate professional indemnity insurance. Ask for evidence of their qualifications, accreditation certificates, and membership details. A reputable assessor should be transparent and willing to provide this information. Remember that the ‘responsible person’ for the property has a duty to ensure the appointed assessor is competent. By carefully vetting potential candidates, you can ensure that you choose a qualified fire safety assessor in London who will conduct a thorough assessment, provide valuable recommendations, and help you meet your legal obligations, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for everyone in your property.
